Tao Te Ching, a new translation

By Lao Tzu
Trans: Gia-Fu Feng and Jane English

This translation seems to typify the atmosphere of the times it was written: in 1972 during the height of the counter-cultural 60’s. And reflecting those times, the translations seem to includes wild swings from deep insight to completely missing the point. In spite of the negatives though, this version is well worth careful reading.

“No one has done better in conveying Lao Tzu's simple and laconic style of writing, so as to produce an English version almost as suggestive of the many meanings intended. this is a most useful, as well as beautiful, volume—and what it has to say is exactly what the world, in its present state, need to hear.”
